Bittersweet

Bittersweet is the word of the month.

This month we say goodbye to Vancouver, and hello to Sydney again.

We never moved to Vancouver forever. A made a minimum two year commitment, but it will be four years – to the day – when we return.

There have been farewell drinks and dinners and lunches, and there are still some more. We’ve made some good friends in Vancouver.

There has also been last suppers at many of our favorite restaurants.

And there is one final ski trip to Whistler Blackcomb before we fly. We just need more snow.

But then, it’s back to Australia. We haven’t visited since we moved to Canada. This was selfish, but we also wanted to make the most of our time here. And, we’ve had a few (aka lots of) visitors.

Fortuitously, A’s cousin Susie has her engagement party the day we arrive back. Excellent timing to see this part of the family and celebrate this milestone.

But then, it’s back to work for A, and finding a job for me #reality

Today has been spent packing what we need for our final few days in Vancouver, what we need for skiing, and what we need for Australia.

We’re also organised for the movers who come tomorrow. The shipment will take about 16 weeks, which seems like forever.

We don’t move straight into our Sydney apartment, as the tenants don’t move until late January. We are house sitting and staying with friends and family in the interim.

And we have Christmas and summer to enjoy.
